Chores and rewards basics

The core ChoreHero loop is simple:

  1. parents create chores
  2. children see what is due
  3. chores are completed or submitted
  4. parents review when needed
  5. rewards and progress stay visible

Chores​

ChoreHero is built for recurring household routines, not just one-time checklists.

Parents can use chores to:

  • set expectations clearly
  • assign recurring work
  • decide when parent review is required
  • control whether proof is part of the flow

Approvals and proof​

Some chores can be approved directly, while others may require submission or proof before they count as complete.

Proof behavior can depend on plan access and current subscription state. If a proof option is missing or unavailable, review Billing and subscriptions.

Rewards​

Rewards help make progress visible and reinforce follow-through.

Parents usually manage:

  • what rewards exist
  • when a reward can be claimed
  • whether a reward still fits the current household routine

Dashboard expectations​

Parents and children do not use the same surface in the same way.

  • parent views focus on planning, approvals, settings, and oversight
  • child views focus on what is due, what is done, and what can be earned next

Good setup habits​

To keep routines clear:

  • start with a small number of chores
  • make reward rules easy to understand
  • avoid changing too many rules at once
  • document support-facing behavior whenever the daily flow changes
